I've been bouncing around the idea of doing a comic book for a while now . . .
I mean, if it wasn't obvious from the sketches album, I have a lot of weird genre-specific ideas. They're just doodles now, but they all have back-stories and potential.
I think the main problem was that I couldn't pick a specific "story" I liked enough to devote a whole series to . . . so I'm going to try something a bit ambitious instead: Do a quasi-anthology series.
I'll have several different stories with new characters/settings/genres each issue, and then give people a facebook-page or a tumblr to send feedback to. Readers can tell me what stories they like, so I can continue them in the future . . . and it will be about twice as long as the average book, so I have room for everything . . .
So 50-60-something pages every . . . two months, hopefully.
It'll be like "Heavy Metal Magazine" . . . except it's all done by one guy . . . and in black and white . . .
I don't really expect it to explode in popularity because of my "art" or anything, I know my limitations, but I'd rather have the effort I put into drawing amount to some actual stories and serious practice. I have to start somewhere, right?
Anyway, I'm mentioning it here because I'll have a "pilot" issue that I'll send out to anyone who wants one, and then try to get it "published". Maybe I could send everyone multiple copies, so you can give them to your friends or something?
I'm writing/doing layouts ASAP and then doing the hard stuff over summer break . . .
